Santa Cruz High School is a comprehensive public college prep high school with a small school feel. It serves a student body of approximately 1,100 students representing a range of ethnicities, cultures, interests, and beliefs. Its historic main building has been a landmark of downtown Santa Cruz for over 100 years. Built on a smaller footprint than the other district High Schools, Santa Cruz has an intimate and stimulating environment, but its facilities face unique challenges in economic utilizations of space. In the last bond, Santa Cruz was able to accomplish a lot of vital infrastructure work—repairing water, power and sewage lines (some of which were many decades old). Going forward, Santa Cruz needs a great deal of modernization and HVAC work to ensure that it can continue to provide the vibrant learning environments its students and families have come to expect.
